This trip marks Muizzu's first bilateral visit to India, despite his attendance at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in June. His visit is intended to bolster cooperation and people-to-people connections between the two nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlights the importance of this visit in reinforcing India's 'Neighbourhood First Policy' and 'SAGAR' vision, underscoring the strategic significance of the Maldives as a maritime neighbor.
