In a scathing critique, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju alleged that the Congress' neglect of Manipur and other north-eastern states resulted in a surge of militant groups in the area. Rijiju highlighted that the long-standing ethnic tensions have cost many lives, which previous governments overlooked.
Addressing media inquiries, Rijiju held the Congress responsible for what he termed 'misgovernance' in Manipur. He added that recent incidents reflect deep-seated community conflicts, not opposition to the Indian government. Efforts by the present government have reportedly led to over 10,000 militants surrendering and joining mainstream society in the last decade.
Rijiju also responded to Rahul Gandhi's allegations against BJP and RSS, labeling Gandhi's leadership as inappropriate. Additionally, the minister emphasized his commitment to all minority communities, not just Muslims, hinting at a shift in focus from the Congress's past policies. He disclosed plans for 'Sanvidhan Bhavans' across Maharashtra and a visit to the historically significant Deekshabhoomi.
