Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grave concern on Friday over the alleged involvement of a prominent Congress leader in a Rs 5,600 crore drug bust in north India, describing the situation as 'extremely dangerous and shameful.'

Shah highlighted the dire conditions faced by the youth in Punjab, Haryana, and across north India due to drug issues during the Congress rule, contrasting it with the Modi government's zero-tolerance drug policy aimed towards a 'drug-free India.' The minister emphasized efforts to steer the youth towards sports, education, and innovation.

A substantial drug seizure recently occurred in Delhi, involving over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana worth about Rs 5,620 crore. The BJP alleged that Tushar Goel, tied to the Indian Youth Congress, played a key role, a claim the Congress party refuted, stating Goel's expulsion in 2022.
