Indonesia's President Joko Widodo, known as Jokowi, has witnessed a decline in his approval ratings, according to a recent survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia. The approval rating fell by seven percentage points to 75%, following an attempt by his allies to change election rules.

The proposed alterations aimed to adjust the minimum age requirement for regional elections, potentially enabling Jokowi's son to run for deputy governor. However, this plan was met with strong public backlash, resulting in heated protests that lawmakers eventually bowed to by abandoning the proposal.

As Jokowi prepares to step down on October 20, making way for defense minister Prabowo Subianto, his overall legacy remains intact. Despite the rule change controversy, many Indonesians continue to view his presidency favorably, citing stable economic conditions and effective inflation management.
