The National Conference (NC) has strongly denied any engagement with the BJP for forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir, maintaining its ties solely within the INDIA bloc. This clarification comes amid swirling rumors of backchannel negotiations.
Speculation was fueled by a social media post from former Srinagar mayor Junaid Azim Mattu, who suggested that talks between the NC and BJP had begun, with an unofficial mediator involved. The claim pointed to a meeting between NC president Farooq Abdullah and a BJP representative in Pahalgam.
NC countered these rumors, affirming that Abdullah was in Pahalgam for a golf tournament, and urged the public to dismiss such unfounded claims. As Jammu and Kashmir await the result of the recent assembly elections, NC remains firm in its position within the INDIA bloc.
