Political tensions in West Bengal escalated as former Lok Sabha MP and BJP leader Arjun Singh's office-cum-residence was allegedly attacked on Friday morning. The incident involved stone-throwing, bomb hurling, and gunfire around 8:30 a.m., according to Singh, in North 24 Parganas' Bhatpara.
Singh, who suffered a splinter wound, accused individuals with ties to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and local police of complicity. He alleged police inaction allowed the assailants to openly brandish firearms amidst the Navratri Puja celebrations. Claims surfaced of 15 bombs being thrown during the incident.
An officer confirmed no injuries but indicated investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, the blame-game continues as Jagatdal MLA and TMC member Somenath Shyam accused Singh of firing shots himself, suggesting the attack was staged amid failed political aspirations.
