On Thursday, former bus marshals rallied near the Delhi Lieutenant Governor's residence, demanding the reinstatement of their positions. Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, such as Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, rallied behind the protestors.
The day's activities saw the AAP accusing the BJP of backtracking on their promise to reinstate the bus marshals. The issue became a focal point in the two-day Delhi assembly session, with heated exchanges between AAP and the opposition, all endorsing a resolution to bring back the bus marshals. Despite plans for a meeting with the LG, it was never held.
AAP criticized the Lieutenant Governor's office for ignoring their outreach, while BJP countered, accusing AAP of misleading the public. The Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, questioned AAP on their seriousness about the meeting. Earlier, LG V.K. Saxena had approved ending the employment of civil defence volunteers serving as bus marshals, suggesting instead their deployment as home guards.
