In a sharp rebuttal to allegations of privatization, Union Minister of Heavy Industries, HD Kumaraswamy, has assured that 4,200 contract workers from the Vizag Steel Plant have been reinstated. This comes in response to claims made by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal that the workers were unfairly terminated with plans underway to privatize the plant.

Kumaraswamy criticized Venugopal for attempting to politicize the issue, asserting that the situation had been addressed promptly. He explained that the workers, initially terminated on September 27, were reinstated by September 29, with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited confirming the restoration. Efforts are now focused on reinstating the workers' biometric data and online gate pass systems to ensure smooth operations.

The Minister further highlighted the government's effective management of public sector undertakings, pointing to a significant increase in market capitalization over recent years. He dismissed any notions of a sale, vowing continued dialogue with top government officials to address ongoing concerns. The statement signals a robust defense against claims of a privatization agenda aimed at favoring corporate interests.
