Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party chairman, hinted on Wednesday at the possibility of pardoning former prime minister Imran Khan if he is convicted by a military court.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and other top officials had earlier suggested that the 71-year-old PTI founder may face a military trial for allegedly inciting attacks on army installations after his arrest on May 9, 2023.
Bilawal, speaking to reporters, stated, "We need to assess the evidence first. After all, we have the authority to grant a presidential pardon," emphasizing his party's opposition to the death penalty. He also addressed the need for constitutional amendments, with a deadline set for October 25.
