India voiced profound concern Wednesday over the intensifying security situation in West Asia, urging the conflict not to spread regionally while advising nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Iran.
This statement followed Iran launching around 200 missiles into Israel after the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and other commanders.
Israel warned of repercussions, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating Iran would ''pay.''
New Delhi called for ''dialogue and diplomacy'' to address the hostilities.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized the importance of restraint and civilian protection. They reinforced the call to address all issues through non-violent means.
Concerned by the rising tensions, India advised its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran and urged those residing there to stay vigilant and maintain contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
The advisory came after Israeli military action in southern Beirut targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, with reports of Yemeni forces striking Israeli military positions using cruise missiles.
