France Secures Financial Guarantees for 2030 Winter Olympics Bid

France has provided the necessary financial guarantees to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for hosting the 2030 Winter Olympics. This comes after the French Alps bid was chosen conditionally in July. The guarantees need to be signed by the prime minister by October 1 and ratified by parliament by March 2025.

France has officially provided financial guarantees to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for its conditional selection to organize the 2030 Winter Games. The French Alps bid was the preferred choice but faced delays due to political instability and election-related uncertainties.

According to the IOC, France must have these guarantees signed by the prime minister by October 1 and ratified by parliament by March 1, 2025. French Prime Minister Michel Barnier, appointed last month, assured the IOC in a letter to its president, Thomas Bach, that the French government would cover any potential budgetary deficits of the organizing committee.

France has previously hosted the Winter Games in Chamonix (1924), Grenoble (1968), and Albertville (1992).
