In a critical move ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah conducted a strategic meeting with party MLAs and select workers in Mumbai on Tuesday. Shah's visit to the state involved high-level discussions aimed at fortifying the party's position.

Prominent figures including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Mumbai unit head Ashish Shelar were present at the Dadar gathering, where Shah underscored the importance of the upcoming elections. The BJP currently holds 16 of the 36 assembly seats in Mumbai, a significant chunk of the 288-member state assembly where elections are slated for November.

Shah's visit marks his third to Maharashtra in recent weeks. Previously, he toured Vidarbha, North Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Western Maharashtra, engaging with party workers and legislators. Emphasizing a 10 percent vote increase in strongholds like Vidarbha, he aimed to turn around the party's underwhelming Lok Sabha performance in the region. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which includes the NCP and Shiv Sena, strives to outperform previous records under Shah's strategic guidance.
