Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is poised to survive a second parliamentary confidence vote in less than a week, as opposition parties rally to keep his minority Liberal government intact.
Last Thursday, Trudeau easily overcame an attempt by the official opposition Conservative Party to oust him, despite increasing voter fatigue after almost nine years in office.
The Conservatives, commanding significant poll leads ahead of the 2025 election, have tabled another confidence motion set for a vote at 3.30 pm ET on Tuesday. With the separatist Bloc Quebecois agreeing to support Trudeau until the end of the month in exchange for boosted seniors' pensions and potential backing from the New Democratic Party (NDP), Trudeau's leadership seems secure for now.
