The Congress on Tuesday criticized the Maharashtra government's move to declare indigenous cows as 'Rajyamata-Gomata', alleging it as a vote-bank tactic for the forthcoming assembly elections.
On Monday, the Eknath Shinde-led administration had announced this designation to conserve desi cows, emphasizing their significance in Indian culture, agriculture, and healthcare. However, opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar accused the ruling BJP of using this move to sway voters.
Adding to the controversy, Wadettiwar condemned the elevated construction costs of the Kondhane dam project, citing unfair benefits to certain contractors. He asserted that the next government led by Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would investigate and expose those responsible for such expenditures.
