Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday leveled serious allegations against the BJP-led central government, accusing it of undermining the Indian Constitution and favoring a select group of billionaires. Addressing a public meeting in Sonipat ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly Polls, Gandhi criticized the government's policies, stating that they primarily benefit big industrialists while neglecting the poor and marginalized communities.
Gandhi underscored the adverse impacts of demonetization and the implementation of GST, claiming they were designed to assist business magnates Adani and Ambani. He argued that these policies have destroyed small businesses and employment avenues in Haryana. He also criticized the Agniveer scheme, asserting it was an attempt to deny soldiers their rightful benefits.
Further criticizing the privatization of public sector undertakings and government factories, Gandhi alleged a direct handover of defense contracts to companies owned by Adani. He also addressed the drug issue in Haryana, questioning the lack of governmental action following large narcotics seizures at the Mundra port controlled by Adani. Gandhi concluded by condemning the BJP's subversion of constitutional equality and its favoritism towards capitalist interests.
