JERUSALEM — The Israeli military has initiated a 'limited, localised' operation targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, conducting 'targeted ground raids' in villages near the Israeli border. According to military spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, these actions aim to neutralize immediate threats to Israeli communities in northern Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to Iran, which backs Hezbollah, asserting Israel's extensive reach in the Middle East. The recent assassination of Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah and other commanders has intensified hostilities, with Hezbollah pledging continued resistance.

As Israel and Hezbollah exchange fire across the Lebanon border, the conflict has displaced tens of thousands of people. The UN and Lebanon have launched a $426 million appeal for urgent humanitarian aid. Both sides accuse each other of violating the 2006 UN resolution that ended the last Israel-Hezbollah war.
