The BJP on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress for its condemnation of the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and several others from Ladakh, labeling it as 'hypocrisy in extreme'.
Wangchuk, along with over 100 Ladakhis, was detained on Monday at the Delhi border for violating prohibitory orders while protesting for the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. They were taken to various police stations around the capital.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the detentions as 'unacceptable' and insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must listen to the voices from Ladakh. Responding to the Congress' stance, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar questioned why Rahul Gandhi remains silent on similar issues elsewhere, calling his reaction 'hypocrisy in extreme'.
