Sri Lanka's new National People's Power (NPP) government convened its first Cabinet meeting with just three ministers, officials confirmed.

Cabinet Spokesman Vijitha Herath, managing multiple ministries, stated that he, newly-appointed President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya were the meeting's sole attendees.

This minimal attendance marks the smallest Cabinet meeting in history. Last week, President Dissanayake appointed his four-member cabinet, including himself, before dissolving Parliament for a snap election on November 14. A parliamentary election to elect 225 members will follow the September 21 presidential election, costing SLR Rs 11 billion.
