In the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, an enthusiastic wave of voters included people with disabilities and centenarians, such as 100-year-old Mala Begum in Bandipora. The Election Commission of India (ECI) proudly acknowledged her vote on social media, celebrating democracy's indomitable spirit.
The ECI further encouraged public participation by wishing everyone a 'Happy Voting Day' and urging them to celebrate 'Jashn-e-Jamhuriyat' by voting. In Udhampur, 95-year-old Bal Krishan expressed gratitude to the ECI for the facilities provided at a PwD-managed polling station, while 96-year-old Kamala Devi cast her vote at 102-Vijaypur.
Shakuntla Devi, an 80-year-old, also contributed to the electoral fervor at a women-managed polling station in Samba district. The latest data from ECI reported varying voter turnouts, with Udhampur leading at 33.84% and Baramulla at the lowest with 23.20%. The election is significant as the first since the revocation of Article 370, featuring a multi-party contest for 90 seats.
