CPI(M) Alleges Alliance Backing MLA P V Anvar Amid Ongoing Clashes
The CPI(M) claims an alliance of Congress, IUML, SDPI, and Jamaat-e-Islami is supporting independent MLA P V Anvar in his conflicts with the Left party and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This comes after Anvar's allegations against senior police officials and a subsequent case for alleged illegal phone tapping.

The ruling CPI(M) on Tuesday accused an alliance comprising Congress, IUML, SDPI, and Jamaat-e-Islami of backing independent MLA P V Anvar. The MLA has recently clashed with the Left party and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over various issues.
The CPI(M) claimed that Anvar's public meeting on Sunday saw large attendance from Congress and its allies, while only a small portion were CPI(M) supporters. Left party's state secretary, M V Govindan, highlighted two forms of communalism in Kerala—'majority or Hindu communalism' and 'minority communalism'—identifying the alliance backing Anvar as an example of the latter.
Anvar responded, stating that his meetings included democratic and secular-minded participants, refuting claims of communalism. Accused of illegal phone tapping, he insists his conflict with the CPI(M) stems from his demands for action against alleged misconduct by senior police officials.
