In the concluding phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, a substantial number of voters headed to the polls, with the turnout surpassing expectations. State BJP President Ravinder Raina lauded the unanticipated voter participation, calling it a testament to J&K's commitment to democracy.
Former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta echoed similar sentiments, asserting that the vigorous voter engagement demonstrates the region's faith in democracy. Gupta expressed optimism about the Bharatiya Janata Party's prospects in forming the next government.
According to the Election Commission of India, by 9 am on Tuesday, the voter turnout had reached 11.60 per cent, with Udhampur district leading at 14.23 per cent. The multi-phase election, marked as the first since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, saw robust competition among several major parties. The votes will be counted on October 8.
