Vijay Rupani, the BJP's Punjab state affairs in-charge and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, has quashed rumors about the resignation of Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar. Rupani confirmed that Jakhar has not stepped down and will continue to lead the party in the forthcoming elections in Punjab.

Addressing the media after a strategy meeting to prepare for the upcoming panchayat polls and four assembly by-elections in the state, Rupani clarified the misinformation. He stated, "The news circulating is nothing but a rumor. Sunil Jakhar went to Delhi for personal reasons, which is why he couldn't attend today's meeting. He is our President, and under his leadership we are contesting the upcoming elections in Punjab."

This clarification comes amid growing speculation after Jakhar missed a crucial state unit meeting in Chandigarh on Monday. Rupani reassured the reporters that Jakhar, who was in Delhi on a personal visit, remains at the helm. The meeting, attended by senior BJP leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, aimed at strategizing for the Delhi Assembly elections. Key issues like unauthorized colonies, slum conditions, water problems, and electricity bills were discussed, with a week-long deadline set to finalize the election roadmap.
