Kharge Urges Massive Turnout in Final Phase of Jammu and Kashmir Polls
Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress president, urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote in large numbers during the final phase of the assembly polls. He emphasized the importance of voting as a means to secure constitutional rights and progress. Over 39.18 lakh eligible voters will decide the fate of 415 candidates across 40 seats.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to turn out in large numbers for the third and final phase of the assembly elections in the union territory. He called on the electorate to 'teach a lesson' to those who had stripped away statehood.
Voting is currently underway across 40 seats in seven districts, including Jammu, the winter capital. More than 39.18 lakh voters will determine the future for 415 candidates.
In a message posted on X, Kharge said, 'As voting for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections commences, I urge the people in these 40 Assembly seats to exercise their democratic rights in large numbers.' He emphasized that 'a single vote can change your destiny and usher in a brighter future, which secures your Constitutional rights.'
Kharge added, 'A single vote is valuable enough to ensure better employment opportunities for the young, combat corruption, safeguard your land rights, and ensure progress and prosperity.' He also welcomed first-time voters, highlighting their crucial role in determining Jammu and Kashmir's future. Polling began at 7 am in 16 assembly segments across the north Kashmir border districts, including Baramulla and Kupwara.
Additionally, voting commenced in 24 constituencies within Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, and Kathua districts. In these 16 segments, a total of 202 candidates are vying for seats. The first phase of elections saw a 61.38 percent voter turnout on September 18, followed by 57.31 percent in the second phase on September 25. The results are set to be announced on October 8.
