The United States is sending several thousand additional troops to the Middle East in a move aimed at bolstering security and preparing to defend Israel if necessary, according to an announcement made by the Pentagon on Monday.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that the increased military presence will involve multiple fighter jet squadrons, including F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16, A-10, and F-22 aircraft, along with the necessary support personnel.
This deployment follows escalating tensions marked by recent strikes in Lebanon and the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Singh clarified that the jets are stationed for the protection of US forces and not for evacuation purposes.
