In a sharp retort to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's critique, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge underscored the necessity of addressing pressing issues such as the Manipur crisis and the caste census.

Kharge highlighted that a BJP-led NDA government survey indicated that 92% of urban sewer and septic tank cleaners belong to SC, ST, and OBC communities. He accused the BJP of opposing a caste census to obscure these socioeconomic disparities.

Reaffirming Congress's commitment to conducting a caste-based census, Kharge said, "We will get it done." Earlier, Shah had labelled Kharge's recent remarks as "distasteful and disgraceful" following Kharge's comments aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
