Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a direct aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Nangal Chaudhry Assembly on Sunday, labeling Gandhi a 'factory of lies' over his remarks on the Agnipath scheme.
Speaking to a gathering in Haryana's Mahendragarh, Shah said, 'Rahul Baba is saying that the youth of Haryana will become unemployed due to Agniveer. Don't trust him; he's a factory of lies. He doesn't even understand the Agniveer scheme. Agniveer is a programme to keep our army young.' Rahul Gandhi had previously opposed the scheme, vowing to scrap it if the INDIA bloc were to come to power and had demanded compensation for youths completing the Army recruitment process.
Shah assured the public that Agniveers would receive pensionable jobs from both the Haryana and Central governments. 'I promise you today that any Agniveer who invests Rs 25-30 lakh in FD and returns will be given a pensionable job by the Haryana and Central governments,' he said.
Targeting Congress over the One Rank, One Pension scheme, Shah asked, 'Who are you inciting? Your government was in power for 40 years, but you did not implement One Rank, One Pension.' He further accused Congress of overseeing a corrupt regime in Haryana characterized by 'dealers, brokers, and sons-in-law.' Shah stated, 'This Congress government is one of Dalal (brokers), dealers and damaad (sons-in-law). The Congress party has worked to give the farmers' land in Haryana at throwaway prices to their sons-in-law, and today they talk about farmers.'
Criticizing the previous Congress administration, Shah asserted, 'Ten years of Congress rule meant family and son-in-law welfare, loot, and the humiliation of Dalits and backward classes. Conversely, 10 years of BJP rule have focused on youth development, good governance, and progress for 36 communities.'
Haryana will vote on October 5 to select its 90-member state legislative assembly, with results due on October 8. In 2019, the BJP became the largest party with 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats. (ANI)
