Justice Manmohan Appointed as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Emphasizes Law and Justice

Justice Manmohan was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on Sunday, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that law and justice coexist. He also highlighted the court's priority to ensure citizens have access to healthy food.
"I am very happy with my appointment. The priority of the court has always been to promote the ease of living for common citizens, ensuring law and justice dwell together," Manmohan stated. He noted past efforts to improve hospital infrastructure and the drainage system, and reiterated the focus on providing healthy food.
The ceremony at Raj Niwas, where Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena administered the oath, was attended by Chief Minister Atishi, senior officers of the Delhi government, judiciary members, and other dignitaries. The Supreme Court Collegium initially recommended Justice Manmohan on July 11, 2024, and the Centre officially notified his appointment on September 21, 2024.
Justice Manmohan has had a distinguished career, starting as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court in 2008 and becoming a Permanent Judge in 2009. He was the Acting Chief Justice before his recent elevation. Born in 1962, Manmohan studied law at Delhi University and has practiced in various legal domains, including Civil, Criminal, and Constitutional law. He has also been actively involved in national and international legal seminars.
