RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav unleashed a fierce attack on the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Sunday, criticizing the installation of smart meters. He accused the Nitish-BJP administration of exploiting Bihari residents by doubling electricity rates and selling overpriced power under the guise of smart meters.
Yadav highlighted numerous complaints from across Bihar, claiming that electricity bills have doubled due to faulty smart meters. He alleged that the state government is illegally collecting thousands of crores of rupees monthly, calling for an impartial committee to investigate the matter. Yadav emphasized the need to resolve consumer concerns before installing additional meters.
Raising serious questions, Yadav asked about the possible collusion between the government and power companies, questioning the credibility of smart meters and the lack of transparency in billing. He asserted that the existing issues with smart meters lead to extortion and corruption, ultimately troubling the consumers.
