The Congress launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Sunday after a case was filed in Karnataka against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and others in relation to the now-abolished electoral bonds scheme, emphasizing a demand for her resignation and a thorough judicial investigation.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi voiced hope that judicial processes would lead to the summoning and subsequent arrest of those implicated in the alleged corruption.
Singhvi urged for a probe supervised by the Supreme Court or a special investigation team (SIT) appointed by it, to ensure no interference. The Congress reiterated its demand for a court-monitored inquiry, with accusations that the scheme involved various forms of bribery and extortion, culminating in significant financial benefits for BJP officials.
