Balasaheb Thorat, the Congress legislature party leader, expressed confidence in the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) victory in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Thorat humorously suggested that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance should start discussing who would be their leader of the opposition.

Thorat asserted that the MVA, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), is likely to secure over 180 seats. He argued that 'One Nation, One Election,' while appealing on paper, is impractical.

The MVA's success in the Lok Sabha elections, where they won 30 of 48 state seats, boosts their confidence. Thorat highlighted that Congress emerged as the dominant party and mentioned the support of independent MP Vishal Patil as a significant advantage. The opposition bloc's unity and consensus on 125 of the 288 seats, according to NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, are crucial for their upcoming campaign.
