In a decisive move, CPI(M) Kerala secretary MV Govindan declared on Friday that the party is severing all ties with Independent MLA PV Anvar, following his decision to distance himself from the ruling LDF coalition.

Nilambur MLA PV Anvar has recently leveled several serious allegations against the CPI(M), the Left Democratic Front (LDF), and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Govindan stated that the party is officially cutting off its associations with Anvar, who is also a CPI(M) Parliamentary Party member.

Govindan accused Anvar of becoming a 'political axe of the right wing' and urged party cadres to oppose him. While Govindan did not specify any particular actions the party might take against Anvar, he emphasized that the state government is addressing the issues raised by him. Earlier, Chief Minister Vijayan dismissed Anvar's accusations, describing them as part of an attempt to malign and defame the state's ruling establishment. On Thursday, Anvar claimed that Vijayan misled the public and demanded a reinvestigation into gold smuggling cases and an overhaul of procedure.
