The BJP clinched the final vacant seat on the 18-member Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi unopposed on Friday, following a boycott by AAP and Congress councillors.

BJP candidate Sunder Singh garnered all 115 votes from party councillors, while AAP's candidate, Nirmala Kumari, received no votes.

This victory gives the BJP 10 seats on the decision-making panel, compared to AAP's eight. This marks the first time an election occurred without participation from AAP and Congress councillors. The seat became vacant after BJP councillor Kamaljeet Sehrawat was elected as MP from West Delhi.
