Gujarat Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma on Thursday critiqued Congress MP Geniben Thakor's call to split the OBC quota, alleging the opposition party's goal is to divide society for political gain.

Vishwakarma, who is himself a member of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), claimed that Rahul Gandhi is instructing Congress leaders, including Thakor, in a 'divide and rule' tactic similar to that of the British colonial rulers.

'Why did Geniben not address this issue when Congress controlled the Centre? Why hasn't Congress implemented it in states where they hold power? From Geniben to Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders are attempting to split society along caste lines to seize power,' the Minister of State for MSMEs stated. Thakor, representing Banaskantha in Gujarat, recently requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to better distribute OBC quota benefits among all caste groups, highlighting the current imbalance.
