Zelenskiy Rejects China-Brazil Peace Proposal, Criticizes Effort to End Ukraine Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy criticized the efforts by China and Brazil to propose an alternative peace plan for ending Russia's war in Ukraine. He questioned their motives and emphasized that only his 10-point peace plan, based on U.N. Charter principles, could ensure a just resolution. Zelenskiy warned against giving Russia the political space to prolong the conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has dismissed peace proposals from China and Brazil aimed at ending Russia's invasion of Ukraine, questioning their motives and asserting the superiority of his own 10-point peace plan. Speaking to the United Nations General Assembly, Zelenskiy argued that these alternative efforts would benefit Russian President Vladimir Putin, resulting in further suffering and disaster.

China and Brazil introduced a six-point peace plan in May, advocating for an international peace conference with equal participation from all parties involved. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva endorsed the proposal during his address at the General Assembly earlier this week. Zelenskiy, however, warned the assembly that these alternatives were mere attempts to create a temporary lull rather than a true resolution to the conflict.

Zelenskiy cautioned that international efforts to support China's and Brazil's plan could inadvertently empower Russia and prolong the war. He is set to present his 'victory plan' to U.S. President Joe Biden during his visit to the White House on Thursday.
