Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, who joined the BJP last month, accused the Hemant Soren government of jeopardizing his safety by withdrawing his security vehicles on Wednesday.

The ex-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader alleged that the withdrawal was a political plot. The state police rejected the charge, saying five vehicles currently guard the former chief minister, who also enjoys protection from 63 police personnel. "The Jharkhand government withdrew all security vehicles assigned to me, putting my life at risk, under a political conspiracy. I am not afraid of this move. The people of Jharkhand would provide security to me," Soren told PTI.

Soren declared that he never compromised his principles and expects the people to retaliate against the JMM-led coalition in the upcoming assembly polls. When questioned about Hemant Soren's claim that the BJP "bought" political leaders in Jharkhand, Champai Soren retorted, "No one can dare buy me. I have clearly explained why I left JMM." He joined the BJP citing "humiliation" and "disrespect" by JMM.

Responding to Champai Soren, the state government called his accusation about the withdrawal of all security vehicles baseless, noting that five cars remain assigned to him. Additionally, the police explained that four other vehicles were reclaimed as they belong to the CM's convoy and are not for other uses. Soren also posted on X that the recall ignored all rules and protocols: "I do not need any kind of security among my people in Jharkhand. The people of the state will answer this political conspiracy of playing with the security of a former CM."
