High Voter Turnout Marks Second Phase of Jammu and Kashmir Polls
The Election Commission recorded a 54 per cent voter turnout till 5 pm in the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir polls. Voting, which started at 7 am, saw the highest turnout in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat at 75.29 per cent, concluding peacefully by 6 pm.

The Election Commission has announced a voter turnout of 54 per cent till 5 pm during the second phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Voting, which began at 7 am under stringent security, has proceeded smoothly. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency in the Jammu region saw the highest voter engagement at 75.29 per cent, followed closely by Poonch-Haveli at 72.71 per cent, Gulbgarh (ST) at 72.19 per cent, and Surankote at 72.18 per cent.
In the Kashmir valley, the highest turnout among the 15 assembly segments was in Khansahib at 67.70 per cent, with Kangan (ST) and Chrar-i-Sharief trailing at 67.60 and 66 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, Habbakadal recorded the lowest turnout at 15.80 per cent. Voting concluded at 6 pm. The next phase is scheduled for October 1, with vote counting on October 8 alongside Haryana assembly elections.
