Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has voiced growing anxieties over the ongoing political instability in Pakistan, suggesting that even her tenure could be at risk if the chaos persists.
Speaking in Faisalabad, Maryam, daughter of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, highlighted that international diplomats are equally disturbed by the turmoil. 'The political chaos continues in the country and even I don't know how long I will remain in office,' she stated.
She mentioned that a meeting with an ambassador brought to light the repetitive nature of political upheavals in Pakistan. 'Nawaz Sharif told him that political upheaval is not a new thing in Pakistan as he has grown older seeing this,' she added.
On Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with both Nawaz and Maryam in Lahore, while US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome engaged with them earlier to discuss the political landscape. Maryam's concerns are amplified by the enduring conflict between PTI and the military, which has influenced foreign investment decisions.
