Maratha activist Manoj Jarange ended his nine-day indefinite fast on Wednesday amid demands for OBC quota reservations. Jarange cited the pleas of fellow Marathas and the community's long-standing sufferings as reasons for halting his hunger strike.
Speaking from Antarwali Sarati village in Jalna district, Jarange emphasized the need to address those who have harmed the Maratha community. His fast, which started on September 17, was his sixth in a year, aimed at securing OBC category reservations for Marathas.
Jarange decided to call off the fast following intervention from Jalna district officials and considering his deteriorating health. Despite the Maharashtra legislature's recent 10 percent reservation bill, Jarange remains firm on seeking OBC quotas for Marathas.
