External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday met with his counterparts from France, Panama, and Malta, exchanging views on regional issues and discussing ways to enhance bilateral ties.

Jaishankar is currently in the United States to address the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on September 28. On the sidelines of the sessions, he met with Maltese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Ian Borg. 'Nice to meet DPM & FM @DeputyPMIanBorg of Malta in New York today. Shared perspectives on contemporary issues, and took forward our bilateral ties,' Jaishankar posted on X.

Borg added that in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malta and India, it was a pleasure to discuss intensifying synergies in areas of mutual interest like trade. They also talked about the potential of @commonwealthsec to address global and regional challenges such as sustainable development and human rights protection. Jaishankar also met with Foreign Minister of Panama Javier Martinez-Acha Vasquez, discussing enhanced partnerships in pharmaceuticals, health, education, capacity building, and trade, as well as multilateral cooperation.

Additionally, Jaishankar had a warm exchange with his new counterpart from France, @jnbarrot, focusing on their strategic partnership and major regional issues. He also met the Vice President of Yemen, reaffirming India's support for a peaceful and stable Yemen.
