Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Tuesday lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the Karnataka High Court's ruling against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah involving the alleged MUDA scam. Venugopal deemed the verdict an attempt to make the state bow to the 'Delhi Durbar.'
Addressing the issue on platform X, Venugopal criticized the Modi-Shah administration for allegedly misusing the governor's office, which he stated is a cause for significant concern for the country's constitutional democracy. 'Governors are mere titular heads and cannot interfere in the day-to-day functioning of state governments; they must adhere to the letter and spirit of the Constitution,' he remarked.
He accused the Karnataka Governor of trying to destabilize a popular, pro-people government, led by a leader who ascended from humble beginnings to the CM's office. Venugopal also pledged that his party will battle the central government's 'nefarious motives' both legally and politically. The Congress MP further criticized Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi for his comments on secularism, alleging that Ravi was acting on behalf of the RSS and undermining India's constitutional values.
