The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in Hubli on Tuesday, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This comes after the Karnataka High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah's petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's authorization for an investigation into the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
The protest, led by BJP MLA Aravind Bellad, took place at the Aravind Nagar circle in Hubli. Bellad stated through ANI, "Siddaramaiah committed a mistake, and the governor asked for an explanation, but he could not give a proper answer. Now, after the High Court decision, there will be further investigation, and Siddaramaiah will have to resign. He should resign and let someone else take the position."
On the same day, Karnataka High Court dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's plea against the Governor's approval for probing alleged illegalities in MUDA allotting 14 prime sites in Mysuru to his wife. In his ruling, Justice Nagaprasanna asserted that the sanction for prosecution by the Governor did not show non-application of mind. CM Siddaramaiah, addressing the issue, stated he is unperturbed by the BJP and JD(S)'s alleged conspiracies and is consulting legal experts on how to proceed.
