Vice President Kamala Harris is more favorably viewed by Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) registered voters than former President Donald Trump, according to a new survey by AAPI Data and APIAVote. The poll indicates that 6 in 10 AAPI voters hold a positive opinion of Harris, compared to only 3 in 10 for Trump.

Harris, who is both Black and South Asian American, is seen as better representing the backgrounds and policy views of AAPI voters. The survey shows that half of AAPI voters feel more culturally aligned with Harris, a sentiment that is stronger among Asian Indian adults. Conversely, Trump's popularity remains stable but significantly lower.

The poll also highlights that gender may play a more crucial role in Harris' appeal than her racial background, particularly among young AAPI voters and women. With 7 in 10 AAPI voters unwilling to support a candidate who disagrees with them on racism or discrimination, Harris' identity and Democratic outreach efforts appear to resonate more with this demographic.
