Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday denounced Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut for her derogatory remarks against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Singh demanded an apology and challenged Ranaut to substantiate her accusations or face legal consequences for her statements.

'I believe not even an illiterate person would utter such things. She must either provide evidence or apologize within a week, or else we will file a defamation case against her. BJP should seriously consider this matter,' Singh stated. Ranaut had accused the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government of taking loans and diverting funds to Sonia Gandhi.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, 'We respect Kangana as an elected BJP MP from Mandi, but it is unfortunate the way she has spoken against our national leader Sonia Gandhi ji.' On September 20, Ranaut had also targeted the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Congress of being willing to divide the country for power.

'Rahul Gandhi's remarks abroad, claiming that some groups are being used and instigated, reveal his feelings about the country. He does not hesitate to divide India to gain power,' Ranaut told ANI. Rahul Gandhi's comments stirred controversy in India, leading to further condemnation from BJP leaders.

Additionally, BJP leaders criticized Rahul Gandhi's statement about considering the abolishment of reservations when India becomes 'fair.' He reiterated the need for a caste census, highlighting the lack of representation for OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis, describing it as the 'elephant in the room.'

'There's an elephant in the room. When discussing the control of institutions, businesses, and media, it's important to note that 90 per cent of India--OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis--are not represented in these sectors. This is the real issue,' Gandhi asserted.
