Former Minister Shyam Rajak Promoted to JD(U) National General Secretary
Former Bihar minister Shyam Rajak, who recently rejoined JD (U), has been appointed as the party's national general secretary. Rajak departed RJD due to allegations of corruption and dynasty politics, having earlier left JD (U) under disciplinary circumstances in 2020. His promotion is seen as a strategic move to attract Dalit votes ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.

In a significant political development, former Bihar minister Shyam Rajak has been named the national general secretary of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD (U) party. This appointment was formalized on Monday, shortly after Rajak rejoined the party earlier this month.
Rajak had previously been aligned with RJD, which he left citing feelings of being 'stifled and insulted' by corruption and dynasty rule. He initially joined RJD in 2020 following his dismissal from the Nitish Kumar cabinet and subsequent expulsion from JD (U) on disciplinary grounds.
Interestingly, a senior JD (U) leader, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked that Rajak's promotion is aimed at boosting the party's appeal among Dalit voters for the 2025 assembly elections.
