Israeli airstrikes on Monday resulted in the deadliest day since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, with over 180 Lebanese casualties. The Israeli military expanded its air campaign and issued evacuation warnings to residents in southern and eastern Lebanon. Hezbollah retaliated with rocket attacks as fears of an all-out war escalated.
Israeli airstrikes on Monday marked the deadliest day since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, killing over 180 Lebanese and wounding more than 400. The Israeli military has warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of an expanding air campaign against Hezbollah.
As thousands of Lebanese fled the south, Israeli forces targeted around 300 sites, including Hezbollah weapons locations in residential areas. Notably, strikes reached as far as Byblos in central Lebanon, around 80 miles from the border north of Beirut.
Hezbollah responded by launching rockets at an Israeli military post in Galilee and targeting defence facilities in Haifa, raising fears of an all-out war. Israel remains committed to returning calm to its northern border amidst ongoing conflicts with Hamas, which has received Hezbollah's support.
