Israeli strikes killed around 100 Lebanese on Monday, marking the deadliest and most intense barrage in nearly a year. The Israeli military warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate their homes ahead of an expanding air campaign targeting Hezbollah.
Thousands of Lebanese residents fled the south, with the main highway from Sidon to Beirut jammed. The strikes, aimed at Hezbollah weapons sites, hit 300 targets, including residential areas in southern towns and the eastern Bekaa Valley. Targets as far as Byblos were also struck.
Hezbollah retaliated by firing dozens of rockets at Israel. The conflict, escalating steadily over the past year, has resulted in casualties and displacements on both sides. Israel has stated its commitment to restoring calm at the northern border while continuing its battle against Hamas in Gaza.
