Republican Donald Trump leads among likely voters in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Monday. Trump outpaces U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris six weeks before the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Trump bested Harris 50% to 45% in Arizona, 49% to 45% in Georgia, and 49% to 47% in North Carolina, reflecting other recent polls showing a close contest. The three states are part of seven critical swing states expected to determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential race.
The 78-year-old former president, who faces federal and state criminal charges over efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, is seeking to reclaim the White House after losing to Joe Biden. Harris, who replaced Biden on the Democratic ticket, offers a more diverse coalition of young adults, women, people of color, and some Republicans.
