China has criticized the Quad alliance, calling it a US tool to contain Beijing and perpetuate its hegemony. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian addressed the claims during a media briefing, emphasizing China's sovereignty and maritime rights in the disputed South and East China Seas.

At the recent Quad Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden, the gathering of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi, Anthony Albanese, and Fumio Kishida discussed pressing maritime issues. Lin accused the US of using the Quad to pool military and security cooperation against China under the pretext of maritime threats.

Despite the US denying that the Quad targets China, informal comments by Biden indicate the growing concern over China's actions. China remains resolute, insisting that external pressures will not deter its determination to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity, describing the Quad's efforts as likely to fail.
