Kumari Selja, the AICC General Secretary and Sirsa MP, has refuted speculations of her joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She emphasized her gratitude towards the Congress, promising to engage actively in the campaign for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections on October 5.

Selja accused the BJP of lacking genuine concern for Congress leaders, asserting that the party's outreach efforts are purely election-driven. She reaffirmed her commitment to the Congress, promising to join the campaign within days. 'Whatever I am today is because of Congress,' she told ANI, adding that the party workers' relentless ground efforts are crucial for the party's success.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Haryana, criticized the Congress for allegedly disrespecting Dalit leaders like Kumari Selja and Dr. Ashok Tanwar. Shah highlighted BJP's initiatives to honor Dr. BR Ambedkar, pointing out Congress' delay in recognizing him with the Bharat Ratna. On the other hand, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar suggested that Kumari Selja alone could address speculations about her political future.
