Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday vowed to be the voice of Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament, asserting the Congress party's commitment to pressuring the BJP-ruled Centre to restore J-K's statehood.
Addressing an election rally in Zainakote, on the city's outskirts, Gandhi declared, ''Whenever you need me, just give me an order. I will raise your issues in Parliament. You know my special relationship with you.''
Gandhi emphasized that restoring statehood was the foremost issue for J-K residents, promising that Congress would ensure its reinstatement. He lambasted the BJP for downgrading J-K to a Union Territory, calling it a grave injustice to its people.
Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Modi's administration for favoring a select group of businessmen while neglecting the poor, farmers, and youth, leading to rampant unemployment. He derided Modi's radio show 'Mann ki Baat' as lengthy and meaningless, urging a focus on providing jobs and vision for the youth and restoring J-K's statehood.
